I want to start this goodwill message for 2022 with two quotes from Roy T. Bennett, a former American and Canadian football defensive back in the National Football League (NFL) and Canadian Football League (CFL).
“Live the Life of Your Dreams: Be brave enough to live the life of your dreams according to your vision and purpose instead of the expectations and opinions of others.”
“Attitude is a choice. Happiness is a choice. Optimism is a choice. Kindness is a choice. Giving is a choice. Respect is a choice. Whatever choice you make makes you. Choose wisely.”
On behalf of the Board of Trustees and the Executives of the Positive Psychology Association of Nigeria, I bring greetings and congratulate you all for surviving 2021.
The year 2022 is here. So many combined factors brought us to this point. I believe as individuals and as an Association, we have a lot to recount in the year 2021.
I deeply appreciate you all for all kinds of support, encouragement and advice to make this Association great.
This promising new year has a lot of blessings for those who are ready to transform vision into reality.
I will appeal to us not to lower our guards in 2022 as it is a symbolic year with significant events and achievements that will shape and make our future better than it is now.
I strongly believe that with our joint effort, the Positive Psychology Association of Nigeria will meet most of its objectives this year. These are:
To disseminate information on concepts, principles and strategies of positive psychology and how to be happily fulfilled in life.
To provide practical and evidence-based solutions to human socio-psychological problems and to assist experts in skill acquisition.
To offer e-counselling or face-to-face counselling services by experts on mental health-related issues.
To liaise with individuals who have a common interest(s) to discuss social issues that bother on positive psychology – tips for optimal human functioning, and toolkits for making life worthy of living.
To provide a platform for promotion of academic ideals, job vacancies, fellowship opportunities, scholarships, institutional admissions, professional advancement, publications, conferences, networking and mentoring.
As we await feedback from our International Conference Committee, let us roll up our sleeves and brace up for success in the forthcoming maiden bi-annual conference. And let us keep building the Association for the benefit of humanity.
Individually, my advice to us is to enhance our resilience for focus despite daunting challenges. With little or no distraction, we shall become a better version of ourselves by the end of 2022.
God bless you all.
I wish you a happy and prosperous new year.
